Innovating at the Intersection of Science and Engineering.
AMAT provides technology and innovation consultancy and engineering support in digital twin systems, health and life exploration, and next-generation energy technologies.
Our expertiseAbout AMAT
Advanced Materials Technologies (AMAT) was established in 2021 by Annita Christodoulou, Metallurgical Engineer, acting as CEO, with the support of Evangelos Hristoforou, Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Electronic Sensors at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), acting as Scientific Advisor.

AMAT develops digital twin systems built on three pillars:
- An innovative, robust physical layer (sensors and data transmission)
- AI/ML algorithms for data analysis and decision support
- A user-friendly human–machine interface (HMI) for monitoring and decision-making
AMAT’s expertise in designing new sensing elements, and in selecting suitable low-cost off-the-shelf sensors, has enabled successful digital twin implementations in industry, energy, transport, health and agriculture. AMAT has recently started developing AI/ML algorithms and human–machine interfaces, in particular for estimating the remaining useful life (RUL) of steel structures (American Bureau of Shipping – ABS).
- METLENMonitoring aluminium production in electrolytic cells
- PANMETALStructural health monitoring in pipe manufacturing
- ABSDetermination of remaining useful time in ship structures
Patent applications are pending for new sensors and algorithms for digital twin systems.
Health and Life eXploration
AMAT collaborates with experts in oncology and biosensors on diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including:
- Biosensors
- Magnetically aided targeted drug delivery
- Selective magnetic separation
HeLiX brings AMAT’s expertise in sensing elements and magnetic materials to health and life sciences. The work is carried out together with Angelo Ferraro, Biologist, PhD and expert in oncology, an active member of AMAT’s Technical Team, and extends to humus soil optimization and agricultural IoT.
- DIAGNOSTICSBiosensors and diagnostic technologies
- THERAPEUTICSMagnetically aided targeted drug delivery
- SEPARATIONSelective magnetic separation
- AGRI-TECHHumus soil optimization and agricultural IoT
Patent applications are pending for magnetically aided targeted drug delivery and for the selective magnetic separation instrument.
Revolutionary Energy Technologies
AMAT works on next-generation energy technologies in three fields:
- Hydrogen technologies
- Small modular reactor (SMR) engineering
- Energy storage technologies
AMAT specialises in magnetic-field-assisted chlor-alkali electrolysis, which enhances hydrogen production while co-producing chlorine dioxide, significantly reducing the cost of hydrogen. For hydrogen storage, AMAT uses chemical carriers: methanol and/or ammonia. Along these lines, AMAT is currently designing high-performance methanol and ammonia fuel cells optimised for stationary and mobile applications. AMAT has recently started a collaboration with a leading US university on the engineering of 50 MW small modular reactors. AMAT also works on electrical energy storage using batteries, supercapacitors and thermal storage.
- REENDECOHydrogen production
- USPFuel cell development
- NATIONAL PROJECTSEnergy storage
Patent applications are pending in the field of advanced energy technologies.
